A Home for Horses. A Place for Hope.

Legacy Equine Center and Sanctuary is a non-profit that provides lifelong refuge for horses in need and life-changing programs for people of all abilities.

Rooted in Care. Built on Experience.

Our founders are equine professionals with over 50 years of combined experience. But ask them why they built Legacy Equine Center and Sanctuary, and they won't start with credentials. They'll tell you about the horses. About the moment a child finds their voice. About the quiet transformation that happens when humans and horses truly connect.

Where Horses Find Home. And People Find Hope.

We are a nonprofit farm and sanctuary with a dual mission. For horses facing uncertain futures, we offer safety, rest, and dedicated care. For children, adults, and groups navigating physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges, we offer something harder to name: the gentle, grounding presence of a horse who sees you exactly as you are. For schools, agencies, organizations we offer work-based learning programs and more.

Your Path. Your Pace.

We welcome children, adults, veterans, and groups navigating physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges. Our programs are built around you, not the other way around. Some participants come for the structure of the saddle. Others come for the quiet of the barn. All of them leave a little different than when they arrived.

Be Part of the Herd

Every gift fuels our mission. Every volunteer strengthens our herd. Every participant reminds us why this work matters.

What We Offer

Every person's path is different. Our programs meet you where you are.
Mounted Therapeutic Riding
Starting Spring 2026 safe, goal-based riding sessions led by PATH certified instructors. Every ride is tailored to the participant, every milestone celebrated.
Ground-Based Horsemanship
Hands-on activities like grooming, leading, and ground work promote life skills, self-awareness, and confidence. No saddle required to experience the power of the horse-human bond.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers are essential to everything we do. If you have a heart for service, we'd love to welcome you to the herd. No horse experience is necessary.

A Legacy of Impact

Our founders bring over 50 years of combined experience. These words are from families they've served along the way.
"The best part is just Tressa's temperament when she's here... so much calmer, silly, giggling, happy. If she's having a really bad day, it just calms her down. There's really something to that therapeutic riding. And Nora is just that ultimate person whisperer. Nora is the key to the whole thing. Tressa responds to her so well. It's just really, really special."
Mary + Mike Meade, parents of Tressa
TEC participant for 11 years
“When I first started working with Mrs.B, I struggled with anger and was mean and disrespectful. Working with the support of Nora and the calm personality of Mrs. B, helped me to be less angry. The horses helped me heal, to become more confident, and form better relationships with the adults around me.. Working with Mrs. B wasn't just about brushing her but about healing old wounds and building new, trusting relationships.”
